Symposium on quality assurance in initial teacher education held
On March 5, also in light of marking 7 March known as teacher's day in Kosovo, the QATEK project has held a symposium with all stakeholders on the way forward in developing initial teacher education in Kosovo. The stakeholders involved in the symposium were: departments of teacher education, curriculum and assessment in The Ministry of Education and Science; directors of schools, researchers and experts in education. The project presented the newly approved policy on quality assurance and initial results of feedback from graduates of teacher education programs. Stakeholders provided feedback on current realities and how these new policy inputs will be utilized in moving ahead in improving the quality of teacher education in Kosovo. Concrete recommendations were agreed upon in relation to bridging theory and practice, linking with the experience of teachers in early career, aligning teacher education to school reform and other contextual factors such as school autonomy. The stakeholders agreed to continue these forums regularly.
